Sikamia

Distance from Chora: 10,0 km
Distance from Livadi: 14,5 km

Next to the sea, with a small number of residents, Sikamia village was named after the sikaminies (/sikαmi’niεs/), that is the mulberry trees that used to grow there. The locals also call it “Xykamia” and it is said that in the past they dealt with silk production, since the mulberry leaves feed the silkworms. Its beach is long and sandy, of eerie beauty with only a few visitors. Sikamia is also where the hiking trails that start from Pirgos and Panagia end, while on the bay’s northern part starts a pathway that leads to the small beach of Skala.
